If I try to walk on water, I will only drown… Song 330

Only 35 songs to go now! I can’t believe how quickly this song came together. I was half asleep and under-caffeinated when it all just hit me at once. And my computer actually performed well, so, the bouncing of tracks didn’t take very long… which is good, because now I can rest up. Because tonight, I’m going to see the Smashing Pumpkins! This is gonna be a good day.

Song 330: “Burning House”

There’s not a thing I love that can’t be burned away
I’m sure that day will surely come, but that day’s not today
I worry that I’ll never reach the sky

I’m not one to build it up, to only tear it down
If I try to walk on water, I will only drown
I try to do what I can

I won’t burn it down before I walk away
I won’t curse the circumstance that sends me on my way
This life is just a burning house

There’s no need to curse the wind, it will only pass
If I try to push it back, I will never last
I believe I tried to let you know this

Yesterday is not the way I will think of you
A future passes unafraid of what we might do
The river rolls unimpeded

I won’t burn it down before I walk away
I won’t curse the circumstance that sends me on my way
This life is just a burning house

I won’t burn it down before I walk away
I won’t curse the circumstance that sends me on my way
This life is just a burning house

I won’t burn it down before I walk away
