Your empty head’s got nothing on me… Song 28

Don’t tread on me… don’t step on my blue suede shoooos. Or something… and stuff.

This song is about as straight-forward as I get. One guitar, one bass, one drum track, one vocal and a bit of organ. The guitar part is straight through with no rhythm guitar under the solo. I wanted this to sound sort of gritty. The sparse arrangement allows the individual instruments to expand a bit.

Song 28: “I Can’t Relate”

You think you’re clever, above the rest
Flashing your smile, you think you’re the best
I can’t relate, I just can’t see
Your empty head’s got nothing on me
Don’t waste my time, I’m doing just fine
Don’t you know, don’t you know
Take that smirk out of here, let me make it clear

I can’t relate, I just can’t see
Your empty head’s got nothing on me
I can’t relate, I just can’t see
Your empty head’s got nothing on me
Don’t waste my time

You think you’re entitled, you think that you’re owed
A pretty face with the mind of a toad
I can’t relate, I just can’t see
Why you think you can step on me
Don’t waste my time, you don’t have the mind
Don’t you see, don’t you see
Take that smirk out of here, let me make it clear

I can’t relate, I just can’t see
Why you think you can step on me
I can’t relate, I just can’t see
Why you think you can step on me
Don’t waste my time

Go back to your corner, leave me alone, go away

I can’t relate, I just can’t see
Your empty head’s got nothing on me
I can’t relate, I just can’t see
Why you think you can step on me
Don’t waste my time, I’m doing just fine
