I chase the night on an empty street… Song 109

It seems odd to me that I wrote a song about rain on the sunniest, warmest day of the year so far. But I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. I usually do odd things. So, I guess it’s not that odd to me. I actually wrote the music for this song back in March on a particularly prolific day. I really liked the music, so I kept if for later use. Today I finished it, and I think that’s a good thing. I’m glad I didn’t force it when I initially started on this song. I had the feeling that it needed to breathe in my head for a while before I tackled it. I didn’t want to mess it up. It turned out quite nicely…

Song 109: “April Showers”

Twilight reigns upon me, I dance in the rain
Wash away my sorrow, wash away my pain
Wash away my slumber, dreaming of the rain

The rain is pouring down like rivers out of time
It muffles all the sounds running through my mind
I took my chances letting it all out

Starlight hides above me, obscured by the clouds
Wash away my sadness, wash away my pride
Wash away my ignorance, chase away the tide

The rain is pouring down like rivers out of time
It muffles all the sounds running through my mind
I took my chances letting it all out

I chase the night on an empty street
There’s thunder in my bones and lightning in my eyes
If I could fly right now, I’d rise above it all
I’m not chained down, I just don’t want to fall

The sunrise smiles upon me, I’ve made it through the night
Wash away resentment, wash away the fight
Wash away all the tears I have ever cried
