Reciting hymnals hoping to find… Song 169

I started working on an entirely different song today. It was coming along nicely, then my mood changed. I no longer felt like doing what I was doing. So, I stopped. And started over. I felt like making something more aggressive than what I had started. This song to me, reminds me of bands like Soundgarden and Alice in Chains. Maybe it’s the gratuitous use of “Drop D” tuning. Very grungy indeed…

Song 169: “Wired Into Fate”

(in a black leather suitcase, where you hide your sins)

You’ve been walking where the ghosts fear to tread
You’ve been talking to the voices in your head

Made a mistake, stayed up too late
Wired into fate, You gave all you could take

You misjudged signals clawing through your eyes
Reciting hymnals hoping to find

A way to save your soul, buried in that hole
Wired into fate, You gave all you could take

(rusted hinges break, fill your life with pain)

You can’t look behind you, the damage is too great
The tears just remind you, you’re wired into fate

There’s no going back now, All there is is hate
Wired into fate, You gave all you could take

There’s no going back now

(close the lid now, your work is done)
