A new month. A new album. I’m doing something a little different and a little more ambitious than my previous work. Albums like 2112, Tommy, The Wall and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway are some of my favorite albums of all time. What do they all have in common? They’re all the dreaded “concept album”. That’s what I’m going to do this month. This month will be one continuous concept album, designed to be heard in order.
The war of spirit plagues those who see and feel the injustice and absurdity in this world. Ignorance is bliss and knowledge is scorned. 56 people shot? Who cares? You hit a squirrel with your car? An outpouring of sympathy and heart-felt wishes of healing ensues. At what point does the absurdity of it all become too much to handle? At what point does the need arise to fight to reclaim your spirit? Is love real? Does anyone feel anything genuine any more? How do you reconnect with your spirit in a universe of 1’s and 0’s?
