I’ll never wear your noose… Song 253

I awoke at dawn to the sound of a million voices. Dreams of what may be made my sleep restless. As I opened my eyes to the first rays of sun, the voices got louder. I knew it could not be in my head. I climbed atop a pillar of rock and beheld a crowd of people all chanting in unison.

“We are the way! Join us and be saved!”

I wanted no part of yet another cult of the mindless who were sure that they alone had found the truth. I backed away quietly, but someone in the crowd spotted me. I was surrounded. Their top salesman began his pitch. In my strongest voice I turned back the crowd and rebuked them.

Eventually they faded away like a swarm of insects off to find their hive. I set my sights on greener pastures.

Song 253: “Hierophant”

Out here all alone
They still find me here
Selling me their platitudes
Selling me their lies, unwanted

“Join with us! We’ll save your life!”
“You belong to our kind!”

I may not know the secrets
I may not know where I’m going
But I know what I’m meant to be
I’m alive

“Join with us! We’ll make you new!”
“We know what you have to do!”

I’m far too in love with living
I’ll never wear your noose
I may not know where I’m going
But I know who I am

I’m far too in love with living
I’ll never wear your noose
I may not know where I’m going
But I know who I am

I know who I am
I know who I am
