The rain in my heart never dried up… Song 300

Here I am again. Three Hundred songs now done for this year. A milestone for any songwriter. But this actually makes song number 727… Not counting stuff I haven’t released. Sixty-Six songs to go for this project and then onwards and upwards.

I actually almost completely finished a different song this morning. It was upbeat and synth filled. But then, the weather put my mood in it’s stranglehold. It’s gloomy, cold and raining here in Chicagoland. The windows covered in raindrops trickling down like tears. No colors, only grey. No sunshine, only clouds. This weather depresses me so quickly. It’s really quite astounding to me. So, obviously, today’s song is a reflection of this. All in all, I think it’s a nice song.

Song 300: “Forgotten Tears”

The rain falls on my window like tears forgotten
The rain in my heart never dried up

That sun can stay away
Cause I can break my heart
On my own

A smile soon forgotten like an angel in disguise
A smile is hard to see reflected in the rain

That sun can stay away
Cause I can break my heart
On my own

I don’t need to be told
Why I feel so old
Why there’s always rain in the way

Night falls down and I’m alone
But I don’t want this feeling any more

Shining sun, please come home
I don’t want this broken heart
